Isaac Damian Ezirim is a social innovator, a technology inclusiveness advocate, and the founder of Teens Can Code. Teens Can Code is an organization he founded to help young people access technology opportunities through problem solving and coding. He is also the convener of the renowned Teens Code Conferences, a large scale technology event that has reached over 7,000 teenagers in various communities in Nigeria. The goal of the conference is to use technology education as the catalyst that can take young Nigerians from their communities and turn them into technology leaders who build positive societies. The project has been featured on BBC Africa, Channels Television, Television Continental (TVC), Africa Independent Television (AIT), BellaNaija and LoveWorldPlus to mention a few.
Through the Teens Can Code project, Damian aims to Provide livelihood opportunities for young Nigerians especially those in marginalized communities, he seeks to build effective and confident girls who are not afraid to take on the challenges in the tech industry and also help to increase women’s participation in the technology space .
Damian is also passionate about civic technologies which led him to start the Think Imo Project www.thinkimo.org a non-partisan multi-issue initiative committed to engaging, educating, and training a new generation of active citizens and young leaders in Imo State. A full-spectrum civic engagement organization; that provides resources, tools and a platform with room for a wide range of perspective so the good people of Imo just from anywhere can take action on issues they care about.
Recently, he was selected as a 2019 GoalKeeper for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in New York, and also a member and delegate at the Global Engagement Summit in Chicago, USA. In 2018 Damian was awarded The Queens Young Leaders Award, an honour by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, UK, in recognition of his creative solution in addressing issues in the Commonwealth. He is a 2018 Fellow of LEAP Africa Social InnovatorsProgramme, He is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth, named Top 50 Outstanding Young Nigerians by JCI International and a Fellow of the Global Youth ActionNet, Damian is a passionate young Nigerian, driven by the passion to find lasting solutions to social problems. He envisions an Africa where all young people have the skills to realize their potential and confidently create their future, that way he says, we will shine our own light, and create opportunities for everyone to prosper.
